I loved the sarcastic take on Winters in Canada!Planning to move in July this year to Toronto. I guess people living in a Condo would not have the issue of shovelling snow:)

A friend of mine who moved from Toronto to Vancouver bounced back in two years for two reasons.

1. Job opportunity.
2. No sun for about 75% days (pls excuse me if this incorrect).
3. Didn't want to spend rest of his life paying mortgage on 3/4th million house.
4. He also told me he felt bored over all.

It is just his personal perception, might be he should've given few more years to settle down.

so Toronto winters are quite bad...and Vancouver's a better choice because of the weather....but is Vancouver as vibrant as Toronto ?? I mean everyone says Toronto is like Mumbai...hot and happening but crowded, dirty, polluted and expensive... so will it be fair to compare Toronto to Mumbai and Vancouver to Bangalore ?? pls advice

Couldn't agree more. This reason is more than enough to call it a day in Vancouver. What does all the beautifulness do when your pockets are empty at the end of the month. I always believe Torontonians have more disposable income, despite of all the brouhaha of snow, winters, etc. due to the very fact that you guys spend relatively less on real-estate each month.

As for the vibrancy is concerned vis-a-vis Vancouver, then it's a personal choice. Vancouver downtown and city is vibrant enough and although not at par with Toronto, still provides the best of clubs, eateries, pubs, and a nightlife.

But hey, only if you could afford an expansive house in Vancouver. Otherwise, Toronto is the best bet any given day for career and housing.

Toronto is not dirty, polluted or crowded.. not even remotely compared to Mumbai standards. A "crowded" subway in Toronto still means no one touches each other, though there might not be place to sit. Use google maps (street view) to see what places look like. For example, Yong and Dundas is probably one of the more crowded (pedestrian traffic) spaces and this is what it looks like :

Toronto is hot for two months of the year. And thats when you use the airconditioners and fans.

Nowadays it seems to me as toronto is trying to compete Vancouver for housing in last couple of years. With in a year or two, housing expense will be the same in GTA as it is in Vancouver.
Unemployment rate in Vancouver region is same as it is in toronto region as of today as per the EI economic region data. So I don't think any sizable difference as far as housing and career concern.
Yes, one has a choice to based on beauty, nature, weather etc.

The only thing I hate about winter is driving on the roads full of snow and the slow moving traffic in winter.

if you don't like to shovel snow then buy a mechanical shover works with gas (petrol).

Not everyone gets deer or moose hit their cars. It is the nature, you have to accept, respect and live with it.

I go snowboarding and skiing in winter.. This is the beauty of being in the cold country which you can not find in Florida or any other hot places.

I also do ice skating, which is usually done indoor in winter months. You can join gym, swimming (indoor) and many other activities in winter.
People usually get winter fat because they don't do much of healty activities in winter. and play vollyball, cricket in summer to be fit.

Summer is the most amazing part of this country... It is not as hot as India or Florida... For me it is perfect. I always make at least one trip to new place within Ontario itself. There are so many things to explore in Ontario and in Canada. This is why our licence plates on cars say "yours to discover".

Take is positively.

I also wanted to move to USA but it is not possible for everyone. I have sponsored my parents so I need to be in Canada.

The future of USA is not good. People have so many bad predictions for Uncle Sam.
