Hi CD friends,
My wife is looking to get into the certificate course called "Medical Lab Technician" at Centennial college, Morningside campus.
It's a 36 weeks full time course, 3 semesters, 12000 CAD fee.
I think I can get OSAP for that.
My question is :
1. Does anybody have any idea about the job prospects in that field?
2. Has someone or friend/relative has done this certificate course recently?
3. How much pay one can expect?
4. Is it worth doing it considering the post-recession period?
I was trying to go through workopolis for job leads, but could not find many more.
Kindly help me answer these questions.
Thanks and regards.
Try to set up an informational interview with someone working in the field. Which city are you in?
I heard that technologists got hit by automation and some of them moved in as technicians (pay is less than technologists).

This job is no more hot nowadays in GTA. They are hired as a technician and paid very less 10-13$ at clinic. I think nursing is better option than this still nurses are in demand and paid higher than technician
Hi guys,
Thanks for the quick responses.
Rajcanada, I am in North York-near to Don mills & Eglinton.
Well my wife is looking for the 'technician' course and not the 'technologist' one. Maybe later on she can upgrade.
Cheers.
