I disagree.
At least in TN, many hindu's are vegetarian. I accept that a majority of Bharamins are vegetarians but you would be surprised to note that many upper class dravidian hindus as well as SC and ST's are vegetarians.

The issue of abortion is a very controversial one, anywhere in the world. The left leaning progressives believe that a woman has the right to her reproductive health. The extreme right wingers (who as always, mix religion with law and politics) believe that abortion amounts to murder of the unborn child.

The US is divided in the middle when it comes to religion and state. For the most part, liberals believe in the absolute rule of law, whereas the conservative right believes that religion and law are inseparable.

That is where the hypocrisy begins. I mean no offense to any one who eats meat but if abortion is murder, how about chicken wings, roast beef, or pork chops? If abortion is murder, so is the slaughter of animals. Even if this analogy is wrong, how about not mixing personal beliefs, religion and prejudices from common law?

I believe that being a vegetarian or otherwise is purely a matter of personal choice.

Someone said that only the brahmins in India were vegetarians. The vaishya community (the business community) among the Hindus are also predominantly vegetarians. Those who profess the Jain religion are also vegetarian. For the most part, there are no accurate numbers available to say what percentage of Indians are vegetarian, or otherwise.

I am sorry I have added something that should not have been, The discussion was about abortion - that has got diverted into "whether it is ok to eat meat, or otherwise" discussion.

Like vegetarian or not is purely a matter of personal choice, abortion is also a personal choice, of the women. If u observe in US most of the rant reg anti-abortion is by men.

Your statements are absolutely ridiculous!!!! I think you are very confused here

"Its not what goes into your body that makes a person good or bad.... but what comes out" So as easy as it is to point fingers at non vegetarians .... you need to look at yourself first.

Western society is based on the idelogy of christianity .... where god created animals and plants for man to survive and exist.... and that it the law of humanity, right from survival in the jungle.

So, you really cannot compare a human to an animal .... the laws are not the same.

Abortion may or maynot be correct ...... it all depends on the situation. AND NONE OF US HAVE THE RIGHT TO JUDGE ANOTHER.

Pls stop comparing animals to humans ....

 Take it easy man, no need to be defensive... if that makes you happy, even cannibals could be good/nice whatever you would like to call to glorify the term.
Not sure who is confused here...? Someone who is advocating not to judge others, himself is yelling his heart out judging others.
Talking about laws. ..very nice example of confusion...Laws of christianity and laws of western nations are not same. Law of nation is always above laws of individual religions. Another example of confusion: the post is not to compare good Vs Bad, Vegeterians Vs Animal eaters. Post is more of a comment on how someone defends on life when they kill just for the sake of fun.

You have the right to your opinion as well, but opinions are not absolute truths. It is my opinion that animals and humans are the same. The concept of culture, mores and values are human concepts, but if you observe animals and study them in their natural habitats, they also have systems - to raise or care for their young, to express emotions, to feed, to live in pairs (some species) etc.
