Gone are the nostalgic days we fly Japiur Pathangs and the street deals.
We used to religiously prepare the Manja ( Not sure most of you know what this means) with ingredients like tube light glasses and stuff exclusively sold in herb stores and apply them on the Chain thread before being able to fly the Pathang deals.

I was never glued to anything as much as flying Pathangs in my young age, I never used to put my head down in the months of Nov, Dec and Jan.

I am sure many of you might have enjoyed flying kites (Not these fancy ones but the regular ones).

The worst part of my job for last 25 years as an accountant..........not being able to go to jaipur, where I grew up, on Sankranti - Jan 14. And what a pain that each time I do go to India in December, I have to be back in office at the start of Jan.

this year I am thinking of asking someone to show me the patangbazi thru webcam on 13/14th!

Still, at this age, one thing that I miss terribly is patanbazi.............oh those were the days.

I think the only solution now is to look for a company which has fiscal year end other than Dec 31 (bank may be??!!)

Just my thought,

why here in Canada this kind of events is not possible, I know in January, Feb, March is snow, but if we meet together and organized something during Summer or in vacation time i think we will all hava a great fun.

We can put some nominal charges (not for profit) and cover cost of Patang and Dora and other stuffs, etc...

Our kids which born here or came Canada in such a small age and they doesn't know what is the "Patangbazi".

just my thought , may someone throw good light on it.......

cheers and in advance "Happy Makarsakranti"

Have been thinking along the same lines for last 2 years. Yes, was wondering if we can organise Patangbazi for 2-3 weekends in summers or so - half a day event at two or three different parks in different corners of GTA so more people can get an opportunity to participate.

Incase you are not aware, kites are available in dollar stores during summer, but these are not the kind which we flew and no 'cutting'. I fly kite with my kids atleast once each summer......

Also, to fly kite over a certain height, 'I think' we need special permission - due to numerous private planes flying around.

I am open to the program, if anyone wishes to take the lead.
