Chandresh : Are you an OCI as well? If an OCI, do you have to transfer the OCI visa from old Canadian passport to new Canadian passport?

Did they understand the question properly?
When my in - laws came from India to Canada, the agent told them that International boarding rules stated that you should be denied boarding if you hold a passport with less than 6 months validity.
You must check with the Indian Home ministry or the Indian foreign affairs ministry IN INDIA to be sure.
To be safe, I would suggest that you renew your cdn. passport on an emergency basis.
As to the OCI questions, as long as you are above 18 and less then 65, your OCI in an expired cdn. passport is valid even if you have a new. foreign passport. Just carry both the passports to show to the immigration authorities in India.

OCI registration certificate and 'U' visa sticker carry the passport number of the registered OCI. Accordingly, each time a new passport is issued to an OCI holder; it has to be captured on the registration certificate and visa. This would require re-issuance of OCI registration certificate and visa each time a new foreign passport is issued in the following cases.
Up to the completion of 20 years of age, OCI documents have to be re-issued each time a new passport is issued to the holder.
Between 21-50 years of age, there is no need to seek re-issuance of OCI documents each time a new passport is issued. However, if the applicant desires, he/she may avail the service for re-issuance of OCI documents.
After the completion of 50 years of age, OCI documents have to be re-issued once after issuance of a new passport

Have already applied for the new Canadian passport. Once I get it do I need to get anything done. Since I am 38 yrs of age and fall in the age group where re-issaunce of OCI is not required on getting a new passport, I do not think anything needs to be done other than carrying both old and new passport while travelling. But am still checking with the experts on this forum

Hi Chandresh,

I have applied for a new Canadian passport which I will be getting next Friday. I fly on the Friday after that. My age is 40 yrs and as such I fall in the age group of 20 to 50 yrs where there is no need for me to go for re-issuance of OCI even though I wil be having a new Canadian passport. Do I need to do anythng else other than carrying with me the OCI certificate (booklet), old and new Canadian passports. Please let me know as this is valubale advice.

Thank you
