We are just trying the software.Is there any way to avoid?We tried puting fake number....it does not accept......
Is it safe to give orignal?

When you file a tax return, it gets directed to and gets filled into ONLY one location. And it is to the number that you address it to, which is yours. There is only one of you and your number is.... your SIN number.

It is a false statement when they say "When you leave you leave every thing behind" . Because you take your SIN s with you and your credit rating also follows you behind, like a shadow.

SIN numbers are created by using a special algorithm and the soft wares check the numbers entered using the same algorithm and accept or reject the number entered.

If you are just trying the software and not going to use it for making your return or NETFILING you can put the original SIN number there and it would generally be safe. However, if you do not feel comfortable you can try putting 9 zero's or 9 nines or you can see this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Social_insurance_number to understand about SIN numbers and then get an idea how to put a fake number for the purpose of just trying to play around with your return and see the refund you are going to get.

However, if you are using a reputable software such as quick tax or ufile and intend to make your return or do net file, you have to put your accurate SIN number and other details.
