The amount for the CPP and EI contribution deducted by the employer will not be refunded.

Income upto $3500 are exempt from CPP... then why would CPP (if deducted) not be refunded?

There are some types of incomes (such as scholarships from the universities) are not taxed. That's why I said "not necessarily" in my previous response.

Read my first post carefully... I said "if employer deducted taxes....it will be refunded". I dont know why in response you will bring a reference to "tax free incomes" like scholorship...

Because if your employer is a university, then scholarship/fellowship is considered as your income which is tax exempt. Also, the person here who is receiving the income could be a student (from the age), that's why I brought this up, just as FYI.

Thank you for your correction about CPP limits, I do not remember getting anything back when my income was below the limit! :-(

Most tax softwares calculate CPP/EI overpayment underpayment automatically. So if you file your tax return (properly) you do get any overpayment refunded.

That is the reason we are suggesting OP to file tax return.
With $3k as income she owes nothing but a small amount of EI ($51.90)... deduction (if any) over and above that will be refunded.....
