Hi,
I am living in Canada with PR for last 6 years. I was in Vancouver for 5 years and now in Toronto for over a year. Myself and my wife (common-in-law of 4 years) have decent jobs (combined income of approx. $90,000/yr). We want to sponsor my mom from Delhi on a visitor visa.
I have read the bogs and forums giving all kind of info that what we need to provide from our end which is invitation letter, bank statements, and ids but there is no indication or details regarding the paperwork she will have to provide in delhi while applying. Following are the questions I have
1. How much money does she/us need to show (in Canada and India)
2. What kind of paper work she need to provide (have 2 houses and shops)
3. Any other paper work.
Her situation is like this: She was an active business women for last 15 years and closed the biz last year and retired. I am only child and we are a family of two (my mother and myself). She never applied for any country and has no refusal stamp on her passport.
Any advise or comments would be greatly appreciated.
Your situation in Canada is pretty good. The only odd against you is that you are the only child and your mother is alone in India and is retired from business. The visa officer will view this as an oppertunity for your mother to come to Canada and then apply for PR under the Humanatarian and Compasionate (H&C) catagory. So you should do everything within your means to prove otherwise.
Try to show that she has sufficient bonds / reasons to return to India after her stay in India. She can start another business/ reopen her previous business (in paper only) and try to show that she has to come back to look after this business A letter from an Indian MP / MLA vouching for her return would be of immense help. You can do a search on Charcha to see past experiences of people who have been in a similar situation as yours.
All the best.
Peace

I recently got a visa for my Father in Law.
You can look at the other thread where someone else had asked the same question and I had mentioned all the documnets.
