Hi,

We are planning for a campout over a weekend with 3-4 other families. Can you please suggest a few decent campgrounds around the Toronto area? Also suggest the ones we should avoid.

Thanks,

MG.

if you were a Scout or a Girl Guide and you have it in you, then you are ready for the Adventure that a camping trip will bring. If you enjoy the out doors and a night out in the wilderness, and then see and get to know the stars and the constellations, then go for it. You will enjoy it the most. That is what is Canada and its wilderness is all about.

Ever wonder where the fire flies go in the winter? Then go and see them glow in the nights.
Ever seen a Humming Bird stand still in the air and such the honey out of the blue bells?
Ever wrote home to tell them how a Bear chased you into the Pond and you had to jump
into it just to get out of its way, to save your life. Or dodge a set of bumble bees? They all are there, but you might not see them on the day you go. But be prepared for them.
Carry a base ball bat or a can of "OFF' or Odomos to keep them away from your surroundings.

Canada is Full of Parks and recreational Facilities. Get a permit and a membership for the year or per visit if it is not your bundle of joy, and see if it suits you. In some areas you can rent a trailer, a tent or a Kabin or a log house and even cook out and have a camp fire. Sing and have a rollicking time, learn a few of the survival techniques in the wilderness. See a Free movie in the open air Theater. All of this is there and that is also a part of what makes this Canada a Great Country.

Here is something to get started ; http://www.ontariocampgrounds.net/
Ontario Parks: http://www.ontarioparks.com/English/internet_rules.html

The costs: http://themnrstore.mnr.gov.on.ca/english/products.asp?tid=0&cat=1&subcat=19
If you need a spot, then reserve and it is extra.

Search by features : http://www.campgrounds.org/index.cfm?page=468&CFID=860819&CFTOKEN=83619137

KOA: you have to buy Membership. $6.00 and you will have their
Directory and all of the information, location and how to etc.,

This should get the ball rolling. I am sure everyone will add to this and make this
the topic of this summer outing. Most of us are indoors in the winter. But can now
go and see all of the areas that we did not see or did not want to during the winters.
WE now have a chance to have at least one outing per year, when we find the price
of GAS prohibitive, and is keeping us totally shut in! One can even organize a bus
load for such an outing and share the costs for an week end. It is like Car pooling!

Have a Great season and a Nice and Hot Summer. If you find it too hot, go up North. BE PREPARED

Freddie.
