Hi everyone; Would really appreciate to get some views here:

I hv been asked for finger prints in July 2003 which hv been submitted at the end of month. Since then i hv been waiting for any words from Processing centre. My Questions are:

I have no criminal offence, never been charged, never been finger printed all my life. why i have asked for finger prints ?

How long does it take after they have forwarded those finger prints to RCMP ?

God forbid if they turned my application down what would i do ? would it effect my permanent residence status in any form ?

Thank you all in advance to for any help.

Mr. Syed,

First of all 'Eid Mubarak'

The reps at CIC call centre generally do not (can not) give you answers to your complete satisfaction as they also see on their computers what you see on 'e-client' status on-line. This I am telling you from my own experience, as I called them a number of times for other issues and the only thing they could tell me was the total process may take up to 1 year.

However, you do not have to worry much about the 'finger printing' issue as it can be either because they picked your name 'at random' ( I am told they pic randomly 4-5 out of 100 applications for finger printing) or it could be because of your name/last name is very common and may have matched with some one else and hence they asked for 'finger prints' to differenciate and this whole process takes time. Luckily for us, our name was not picked for 'finger printing' and it has taken one full year for our application and we now would be taking 'Oath by the end of this month'. Hence, I believe, that you would also be in a position to get your 'citizenship oath' in a total of 1 year time.

If you have no 'record' of any type, have not hidden any information, you will get reply in due time and trust me, your Citizenship application would not be refused. Even if in a worst case scenario they refuse someone 'citizenship' you can always 'appeal' and definitely IT WOULD NOT AFFECT YOUR 'PERMANANT RESIDENCE STATUS'.

Hi everyone thanks for taking your time to to participate in this topic.

Specially thanks Mr. Pramod Chopra; your explanations were very helpful and encouraging.

Good news; I just got letter for citizenship test on Feb-13 and it is schedule for this week.

To Rakesh; hopefuly yours is on your way soon - Good luck.

To Jhon; I have submitted my case in January 2003 and got acknowledgment they have transferred my file in May 2003 to local office and write after in July i have got letter for finger printing which was then submitted same month, so it takes about 6 - 7 months afterwards for processing.

I realize to a friend of mine who just had his Citizenship Test have been asked verbal questions before he get into his Test about his travelling within all this period. I assume at this point i belive these officers on spot will have same information which were earlier stated in my application form right ?

Anyway thanks again. Will get back to this forum once test is over.

Syed
