Hi group

I was just wondering if there are any CDs emigrated from Singapore. I emigrated from Singapore after spending 6 years there. It has been 2.5 years since I moved to Canada and I still at times think abt whether I made the right decision or not. Would like to hear opinions from other CDs from Singapore.

Cheers
rsk

RSK,
I had been working in Malaysia for a year and I worked in SIngapore for a month or so (In the Branch office). I had worked as an Architect.
Malaysia and SIngapore are great in the sense that you get western life and Indian culture. Both in Malaysia and Singapore, My accomodation (3 bed condo) was provided free of charge and a Car was given to me in Malaysia. My savings were really good (about 90 % of my salary).
Though Malasysia and Singapore were well developed countries, I found out that the quality of work/ drawings and level of inteligence were much below us Indians. As a result , I was able dedect mistakes and do better designs than the locals. (In Canada, the locals do a great job ). Thus I really enjoyed my life in Singapore / Malaysia. The malls were equaivalent to western standard and the public roads/ infrastructure was really good.
I miss Malaysia/ Singapoire.
I invite Cd's to further share their experiences.
TK A
Sidenote : Recession set in Malaysia a year after i was hired and hence they had to lay me off.

I worked in Singapore for almost 16 years - though actually lived for about 12 years. Lost my PR status two years ago after having been in Canada for over 3 years.

I know I made a mistake in moving to Canada - that too from Singapore/Indonesia. Am working towards being able to go back - either through my company or some other means.

Hi rsk,
I worked in Singapore for 18 months and then moved to the US.I had offer in Singapore but I choose USA as salarywise it was attractive and everybody was heading towards USA but I think that was my mistake.
Singapore has lots of attractions and its very close from India and public transport is good, healthcare is good I guess.Singapore is safe and clean. We use to goto Malaysia for vacation very often and savings were good too.
I miss Malaysia/ Singapoire.

I want to go back to Singapore but now I am use to this western life style and working style so not sure if I will blend in Singapore.

Have you spent more of your working life in US or in Asia? If more in Asia, then it should not be difficult to blend in Singapore style - simply because the work ethics of Singapore are western in nature, and the team spirit is of Asian nature.

I think it is the other way around - some of the western malls are like Singapore - the rest don't stand anywhere near Singapore standards.

You of all the people should know that who is an architect by profession.
