Hello all,

I have registered with Premiers Management Consultancy http://www.premiersdubai.com

to handle my immigration case. Not that the forms are difficult or whatever, but only cos it's more centralized. Anyway does anyone happen to know about these guys. I spoke to one of their consultants and he told me that IELTS was not necessary and he would prove my English proficiency thru credentials. I feel that the "Consultant" doesnt know his job well. Am just cheking out if anyone has heard about them?. What do u recommend?

In order to qualify for immigration to Canada, you need to appear in IELTS and score band of 7 to get max marks in English equivalent to 16
This is mandatory. You may submit your case with written submission that your knowledge in English is perfect that you have studied and worked in English. You need to provide documentary evidence in this regard. But it is upto the visa officer to accept this in lieu of IELTS.

It would be better for you to appear in IELTS test only

Mssood

That is what I have suggested. How many cases have been approved under the new rules without IELTS?

Without any time is wasted by any prospective immigrant, IELTS test should be given in the beginning without acting on highly recommended" things to save time, efforts and money.

I was wondering if a good score in IELTS or CELPIP would help in anyway during the job search. With all the talk of poor language skills among the immigrants, would the employers want to evaluate the language skills of their prospective employees at least for an interview call? I never took IELTS and would like to know whether taking it would help me in my quest for a job in Canada (except for getting admission to some courses).

This topic seems to have changed drastically.......from knowing PC from Dubai to English test.

To Shibu:
I do not know about IELTS (I don't even know what it means, frankly), but on a related note I can tell you that each organisation seems to have its own criteria for test of English. My wife had applied for admission both to Uof T and to York University last year. While UofT had a requirement to appear for their own English Language proficiency test before they could call an applicant for interview, York University wanted a similar test to be taken AFTER THE INTERVIEW. So two things spring from this:

1. Each organisation has its own rating and standards and exam and they do not consider results of one known examining body as standard (except TOEFL at times).

2. In her interview with the York University where there were 3 guys sitting on board to select 700 students out of 7500 apllications, they themselves were amazed at knowing that my wife, being a "Foreigner" was required to appear for the test - they told her that they had absolutely no problem with her english - infact it is better than many of the local canadians and would find no reason for testing her on English - Still she was tested in a separate exam!

So each situation is different and no ONE test can get you everything in Canada!
