Here in Calgary, recently the sentence on a person who killed a bar-owner was reduced because the judge found that the bar-owner had incited the killer by asking him to leave the bar for creating a nuisance. The killer had a anger-problem & that is why his sentence was reduced.
So it is not only in India that criminals are allowed to go scot-free or for minimal sentence.

Oh it's a normal thing out here. Just fake anger problems, some mental illness and they'll let ur free. They forget the fact that person killed. Murdering is not a crime as long as you can prove u have a mental illness.

Can you say that with certainty? Have you tried it?
Fortunately no. But if you read newspaper as I do, you will find ppl. being let off from sentences on the grounds of mental illnesses etc.

Were they let off as in acquitted? And when a person is 'let off' do they get to walk out of the courtroom as free men to rejoin the community and do as they please?
Did you get to know ALL the specific facts and circumstances of the case by reading a column on a newspaper?
Of course, if you can provide us with some links to the newspaper articles on such instances, we can all enlighten ourselves........and maybe we can made better interpretations of the law and of facts and circumstances than the judges themselves, eh?
murdering/killing is what it is. There cannot be an excuse for it. If ur mentally sick to that extent of killing ur a threat to the society so anyways u should be put down than being released.
Take Air Canada case. The judge overlooked everything. The only case of this type done without jury. Everything denied to re-open the case. Gosh u must be blind to see what's happening.
Why are all the 15-18 yr kids being let off with only 6 mths of house arrest after murdering by rash driving. Maybe it might be right for you, but personally I dont' thk I want to be one of those ppl. who have to die just walking on the pavement, while my killer is let off in the society again with a license to do the same crime which they invariably do again.
What about that Mid-Eastern lady who was pleaing for refugee status in Canada, because she very well knew about her being put to death if she returned but was sent back and nobody has heard about her again, while drug lords etc are not sent back.
Whether it's immigration law or general law, it's all pathetic. If u want articles, sure I'll start putting the links etc from now on.

The death penalty has been off the table in most western countries, with the one notable exception of the US. Even in the US, there has been considerable thought about putting the mentally ill to death for a murder.
Unfortunately, that's the thought process in the west, if you don't subscribe to it, you're the person who is out of sync.

What do you suggest, assign the death penalty for a motor vehicle accident?........or put the person in for life in prison?

Actually, you are pathetic! You dislike the system intensely, but are unable to do anything about it, neither are you able to leave. The best you are able to do, is get onto a forum like this and rant. Must be a very frustrating existence.......
