Perfectly right JD..........if everyone feels that they should laugh at the comment, it does become a passing joke - it is so obvious. However, if in your example, everyone/most present at the meeting of this multinational did not laugh at it but rather commented that it was a statement in bad taste - would you still call it a joke?? Think twice before you answer that.
And you know what happened when you posted your comment - no one called it a joke or posted an emoticon of a smiley. Rather they did otherwise.So it should be obvious to you what that comment was taken as.

That is not my problem........if some body prefers to be a judge on a open forum......I feel you are being too rigid on this aspect.....for me at a open forum you or pramodji or amit are of same age and can be talk at that level. Kowing that CD is a true desi website and understanding the desi feeling I did opolgize to them but it turned out to be my mistake.
You post your photograph on a open forum, not to make me realise your age. There are loads of such fraud on internet. They may be genuine man. But your attesting them does not require me to accept everything you tell me about them. It is personal preference.
It is time for you to think many times what is open forum on net. If you advertise it is your responsibility and not me OR ask GG to make it a family website. Where people coming at CD gathering can write message.I feel it is not at all necessary for you to dictate terms on a open forum.
There is no denial amit or paramodji, they are advertising on this open forum.....I made a comment. So What!!!

Assuming atleast 50% of the people who read it and had a slight laugh, it is more than 500. Being a moderator, I dont feel you get to decide the definition of a joke in this forum. I felt there was a joke in what JD said. Lot many might have felt it was not a joke., We are all different human beings with totally different characteristics., there are few who call Charlie Chaplin videos as silly and stupid !!! Cant blame them., that is how they are... Its pretty saddening to see few people not appreciating what I rather call was an innocent comment., and the reason being the personal allegiance to them. We are totally unaware of few people's personal allegiance to other few people on this board., actually, I dont care about personal allegiance as long as it is on a open forum.

Let me digress from this specific instance and say something that applies across the board. Moderators do have the discretion and authority to decide whether something is rude or not! If they find that some joker is trying to trip up members doing their constructive bit on the forum, they will take action.
If your free spirit does not feel the need to abide by this, you may NOT participate on this discussion forum. If the meaning of an "open/global" forum to you is that everybody makes their own rules here, you're mistaken. This isn't that kind of open forum. You don't like that? Well, live with it!
I hope I've made myself perfectly clear. Moderators will keep an eye on these kinds of posts henceforth, delete them if they find them rude and warn the user thrice. After that the user will be banned from the forum.

If this forum is a neutral space, why not go ahead and tell Amit and Pramodji to remove their add from signature and place it in classified. You have earlier advice lot of members to take their advertisment to classified. I bet you have a reason for allowing 2 members to put their adds in each and every thread they comment or provide invaluable suggestion or special wishes. Infact if Pramodji and Amit would not like to have extra privelage from CD and be like any other member , they should remove their add from signature and put it in classified. Person interested in having their service will get contact information from classified. Why spoil taste of whole forum. Imagine if everybody start putting their adds in signature. OR CD invite people to place add in signature so that every comment or well wishes they send, advertisement gets repeated. I agree with Pramodji and Amit that classified adds get lost with time. Advertising in signature was a innovative idea to exploit loop holes of forum policies OR it is a bad habit of writting signature of a paragraph length

o Congrats to Jyothiji on successful completion of 6 months in Canada. (Main topic).
o If I land in Canada, and get settled with a good job and stuff, I know whom to contact for property deals.

I think contributing members have carried this site this far and we shd lend some credence 2 them as well as the Mods for successfully & painstakingly maintaining this site .
May be it was a passing joke but since it went against sm members , objections were rightly redressed. As far as displaying ads are concerned I ve a suggestion --- go 2 ur profile and modify it 2 exclude others signatures and icons . I do it & was initially surprised what the ado was about .
