Hello CD,
Do anyone came to canada on student visa and had extended their study permit once again from Canada. Plz help me.
I want to know how much bank balance we need to show for our extension, once we are here. Is it same as india and how long do we need to maintain the money in our bank account?
Plz. everyone share their experience for extending their study permit from Canada.
Thanx
Hi Indianguy, I extended my student Visa, once. But that was a long time ago (1999 to be precise). If you are getting funding from any University ( e.g., TA, RA etc., ) then you can simply send a copy of that letter to the CPC in Sydney. Make sure your funding statement clearly indicates the time limit of your funding and the amt. Based on that, you can make suitbale adjustments in your bank balance.
If, on the other hand you do not have such funding, then I am afraid you have to present relevant bank information for proof of funds. You can keep the money in the bank for a few days and then withdraw it. How much ? Well the basic min. specified by CIC for International students + tution.
It would be best to get the statement, approximately 3-4 days before you post-mark your application form.
Hope this helps...Others can help you with the latest information.

One of my friends got his student permit extended in Dec 2003. It is a very straight forward process and you need to send your application along with your transcript and bank statement/ other proof of funding and a registrar's letter saying you are registered.
Your transcript should show that you have been a full time student at your University every semester. If you have been part-time for some reason you have to make a good case as to why you were part-time at the time.
Your International Student Counselor would be able to direct you and help you with your application and contacting him/her would ensure you have everything when you apply.
For the monetary part- Either you should show enough funds for one school year - tution + living expenses or for the duration of study left whichever is shorter.
Hope this has been some help!
