How is the smart phone technology, now in Canada?
When I migrated in 2002, we only had SMS and most people used NOKIA handsets.
When I left Canada in 2011, I could see that Black berry was being gradually used and that people were checking emails. Also I could see Ipads being used mainly to play games.
Now, how is the technology there ? Are most Canadians using Iphones and checking internet and Whatsapp?
As far as India is concerned, mostly we use Samsung. Almost every technical person / college student has internet access and Whatsapp access on their phones. Iphone, VIAO, Sony, HTC, are other smart phones used here.
Very low class people (very old retired people , servants, labourers use phones that are not smart phones) in India in general.
If you journey in train, you can see a lot of people watching movies with ear phone on Samsung Mobile.

I don't understand what the purpose of this post. Anyway, here in Canada, it is hard to find a new cell phone which is not smart. There are few models, which are specifically made for older people, with large buttons, which are regular old type phones. I had been to a cell phone store recently and on display, out of around 30 phone models, hardly 2 or 3 were the old button type phone.
Smart phones are cheap. A minimum wager can buy a Sony or HTC smart phone in 1 day's salary.
FYI, the new technology starts from NA, then goes to Europe and finally rests in Asia.

There are huge developments in Smartphone usage / market here (Ah! where not).. iPhones and Samsung appear to be dominant, there is still a small but considerable market share for other smartphones. Blackberry is slowly waning out of the scope, If my guess is right, they will be wiped out unless they switch to android. The BBM is phasing out after WhatsApp started secured encrypted messaging facility.
Just like internet commerce, there will be huge space for phone based commerce. Unlike I thought, the tablets are here to stay.
I see business executives often using some thin form of laptop, an iPad or some kind of sleek tablet and a smartphone..
Desktops are also slowly set to their death, there will be immense demand for universal docking stations though, such as any laptop can dock into the station that connect with your wide screen home screen and other big gadgets connected to it. Even printer and scanners are wireless as they don't need to be physically connected to the computers any more.
** Universal docking technology
my vision perhaps.. something like Apple lighting...
