go to http://www.riv.ca" rel="nofollow">LINK for details on importing cars,
you have to pay custom duty if your car was not made in N.America
I got my car from the US.
The porcess is a bit lengthy, but simple
GOOD LUCK !
I plan to drive my car from U.S. to Canada too. However, my tires are already due for a change. Especially, for such a long drive, I should get them changed. My question would be:
What kind of tires should I get in U.S. so that when I reach Canada, I don't have to spend once again on tires, OR Would it make no difference whatsoever, and I would still have to get the tires replaced again at the time of import?
Any advice?
Hi,
I posed the same question to a Canadian Tire sales associate who incidentally was a desi. This is what he suggested, He says the winter conditions here in Canada are much more severe than in the US ( unless you are from Alaska), like more days where there is black ice on the road, accumulated sleet due to more constant snowing, Comparatively lesser reduced visibility etc etc. What he suggested that ALL SEASON tires dont help, so consider getting your car with the tires that it has standard. Based on the inspection and depending on the time you arrive invest/spend either on Winter Tires or Radials or whatever.
