dhaikin, it does not matter if it's a lesbian, gay, or straight person making those changes...in most metropolitan first world environments, a 4 year old's gonna pick up what goes in school beyond what's taught. There have been candidates from the community imbibing such opinions in the previous elections. Nope...not even a ripple. And then...you have the PCs anyways, so why bother?
motr, don't get me wrong, I don't disagree with the fact that kids that age should be taught sex-ed at that age - they should't. All i'm saying is it won't make a difference if Kathleen Wynne is the premier or anyone else.
What you thought this country was or is of no relevance...Most middle-eastern/south asian cultures adhere to socially conservative values - which is fine, to each his own. These alternate lifestyles you talk about are socially-accepted in most metropolitan cities in the western world.

Kathleen Wynne is a factor because SHE wants to CHANGE the curriculum to START teaching among other things 4 year olds about gender identity (about there being 6 genders not just male and female). She tried to do it once before as Education Minister, but Dalton McGuinty rejected it after seeing parents reaction. She was moved out of the Education ministry shortly after. However, since she became Premier she has said that she will reintroduce this curriculum. This time around there is no one to over rule her.
Radicals have been energized by the presence of a lesbian activist as Premier - which is why you have weirdos within the establishment now crawling out of the woodwork (see comments advising kids to masturbate with vegetables and story about a teacher circulating gay sex paraphernalia to 11 year olds).
Now knowing that Kathleen Wynne's curriculum was developed with significant input from an indicted pedophile is even more offensive and calls her judgement into significant question.

Granted that gays and lesbians are *generally* socially accepted in the western world. However, based on my experience of living in different parts of the western world (Europe and North America), you are getting a little ahead of yourself if you suggest that 4 year olds are routinely talking about sex.
Teachers that I know in the States and in western Canada think its ludicrous to introduce 4 year olds to gender identity. Reading into more detail of Kathleen Wynne's proposed sex education curriculum, there are repeated references to "the teacher will prompt and the student will respond". This suggests that concepts will be pushed down students throats. In a sense, it reinforces the fact that concepts are being introduced at too early an age, when the children are not expected to be thinking about it themselves.
Don't get me wrong, I don't have an issue with sex education itself, my issue is specifically with Kathleen Wynne's proposed curriculum and elements within the establishment that she energizes - who are focusing on and glorifying gay sex.
In talking about alternate lifestyles, one has to also distinguish between the inner city and the suburbs. Living in a suburb, my kids have no point of reference when they are taught about "two mommies" or "two daddies" since all of the families around us and in my social circle are straight. The same situation is replicated in the vast majority of suburbs in Canada and the States. Even desi families living in the inner city may not have any gay friends in their social circles. In this situation education needs to be age appropriate, it cannot be one size fits all.
Desis are not even comfortable discussing the subject - not sex education let alone gay sex. There have been a couple hundred views of this thread, yet not many comments
