Guys,

What is the Best way to Officially transfer funds from India to Canada (from my India HDFC saving account and a heavy amount) without incurring heavy transfer fee ?

This is assuming that I do not have visit to India planned in near future nor have anyone visiting me from India...lemme know pls

You will have to go a bank in India and fill up forms and you can wire the money or get a demand draft. It is subject to rules by Reserve Bank of India.

Otherwise you have to transfer this money to someone in India and ask them to send it to you. You will have to clarify the legal aspect of this with the bank. They will need to fill the forms and can be sent via demand draft or wire transfer. For wire transfer, you will need to send them your Canadian account details. Under Liberalized Remittance Scheme up to USD 200,000 can be remitted per year by individuals in India.
