NO ... You are not eligible. You need positive labour Market Opinion to get a work permit .... or study in a public college to get a work permit later.

It happens occasionally in some cases ... due to many reasons. The main reason is the immigration clerk who is processing the file ... does not care weather the applicant is from a pvt college or public college. In other words he or she makes a mistake and not following the Immigration Manual. Applying for a work permit after graduating from a private college .... means just you are taking a chance and trying your luck. If it is from provinces like Quebec, the chances of getting work permit are high.

Good one !
It is a nice warning to Indian students who just apply to these private colleges thinking that studying in these will lead them to a career paid for with gold.
So beware!
Peace

You can apply for work permit after graduating from a private college .....

" Canadian private institution authorized by provincial statute to confer degrees but only if you are enrolled in one of the programs of study leading to a degree as authorized by the province and not in all programs of study offered by the private institution."

I typed a detailed reply ... it to my surprise it was not uploaded and gone.

The clause mentioned by Puttoo .... is the one that caused confusion as CIC did not explained well and works some times in places like Quebec particularly when the applicant is accompanied by a french speaking lawyer / consultant. They do not know much about private collages in Ontario. That's why I said some do get permits occasionally.

Anyway even that is almost stopped as they came to know that most of the desi students obtains certificates from private collages in Ontario without attending the college.

In Vegreville ( where the PG work permits are processed) ... Degree means not a certificate or diploma. There is only one college in Ontario that is authorized to issue a degree ( I guess it is some religious related PROGRAM that helps one to become a PASTOR ).

If a diploma from a private collage can get you a guaranteed work permit ( like one from public collage), then more that 50% seats will be vacant in Ontario public collages.
