Folks ,
Lets clarify some thing - we do not discuss religion or religious supremacy here ... what is generally discussed and errupts into a hot discussion is religious extremism and ills of certain religious practices viz religious terrorism .
Now this ills / topics should be allowed to be discussed as long as people follow communication etiquette ( no profanities ) .
It is not that most of the discussed topics are religion based - we had a looong thread on Ramdev and another one on Satya Sai Baba ...... Threads increase in pages only when members find that topic worth discussion ....
How the discussion evolves is how posters wish to add on to the topic by expressing their feelings .............. some threads die even on the first page .....
Banning such topics might perhaps lead to curtailment of expressing feelings and thoughts .....
I don't know why do we have Islam o phobia ? If people discuss Ramdev there s no problem , if people discuss Hinduism , Christianity , Serena Williams , Canada bashing , India bashing there s no problem .... but when we discuss Islam or the ills of it .... there s a big hue and cry ........
Is it bad to bring out ills of a particular religion esp when it infringes on the freedom and existence of others ??

Like/Dislike is good option, and with say 'n' dislikes, the post is hidden.
BTW, in my first post I didnot put down any reason to why I think this website is going to drain. But you all people have figured out yourself. That validates my concern.

Likes/Dislikes is not a good option.
For example, in Pakistan majority of people support Jihad and Islamization of the country's politics. This has contributed to the current problems, including forced conversions, attacks against Christians, Hindus and Sikhs.
Pakistan is just an example. We can use many other countries also.
Just because a majority say so doesn't make it a right or wrong. Mods should use sensible criteria and patrol the forum regularly.
We already have a 'Report Abuse' button.
A far better suggestion would be summarized as:
1) Patrol the forum regularly
2) Some posters spew out posts [just to flood the system]

The poster concerned should be sent a private message by Mods advising to keep all related posts to the on going thread (rather than starting new ones).
To help them find a ongoing thread, a better search system needs to be built.
Any time one logons onto Charcha, we see many posts of the same nature [by the same poster] ... rather than sticking to one post.
Such posters should have 2 warnings and one 3rd violation - their IP should be banned.
3 strikes and you're out. Like in baseball.
3) Posters resorting to use foul language should be banned on the first go.
Free of speech, and Freedom of religion is value of the free world (West, India, China, Japan). Let it continue to be so.
Those, who oppose should migrate to Saudi Arabia (where none exist).

2-3 people do not constitute many ........... Many people have NOT participated in this thread ...
There has been a trend of some religion based posts - but most of them have been by a singular poster and have not traversed double pages . A few have evolved into a number of pages but they are not the only ones which have gone to so many pages . Controversial posts do invite thoughts and run into pages ..
Controversial topics would be discussed more if there s freedom of expression . If not then maybe we should limit the no. of pages of any thread to 4 ... Why isolate religion alone .. any thread which reaches 3 pages should be curtailed ... maybe the regular Canada / India bashing as well ....
A thread does not grow on its own ... or by a single line of thought .... its countering reasons and thoughts which makes it grow ..... the more sensitive the topic is , the more participants ....
I feel CD is going great .... The Report Abuse is a great feature . The Mods do a great job in patrolling the site .. Any extensions are welcome .

I also feel that the dislike button can be a key in bettering the site ...
If a thread receives > n dislikes it should either be locked , pushed down ...
If a poster receives n dislikes he should be banned / controlled ...
Then posters/ CD s opinion would automatically be taken into consideration .
