For the $40 you spend on old computer, you are only going to see a slightly better performance. For about $100, you can get a used P4 with at least 2 GHz processor with at least 512 MB RAM at Factorydirect. If you check Kijiji, you could find one for $80 or even less than that. Take your pick!

I dunno man it's her decision, not challennging your expertese. Either put 40 bucks get memory so that the licenced software can be used or put 80 bucks and bring in another piece of junk and use current one as stand for that new junk. or put another 80 bukcs and get a netbook. Moreover This one she got it from someone she knows you never know what will be there or will not be there the one she may get from kijiji.

Gopal pai/ anyone else,
I have a P3 laptop (bought in 2003 for $ 1050) which I am not using.
I can give this to you for free. It has windows XP home edition software.
Some laptop keys are not working and you have to connect an external keyboard to it. (I can give the keyboard also for free).
If anyone is interested, they can pick up from my apt. near Sq-1.
