What is going on in Canada?.

In the last few days it is filled with many a people killing their own progeny.

1.Brampton : Father and step mother kill their own daughter.

2.GTA: A 16 year old kid is killed by a passerby over a small issue.

3.Mississauga:Father and brother kill their own sibling over not wearing the hijab.

4.Toronto:A Chinese lady drowns her daughter in bath tub as she is autisitic.

5.Montreal: A lady stabs her children over some mental issues.

6.Brampton:Fatherinlaw kills his own daughter in law over trust issues.

In a country of 35 million so many murders and that too by their immediate family?.

While people killing their own children is truly disturbing, what is also worrying is the manner in which the killing is portrayed differntly when it is a white family killing and when it is a "South Asian". Inevitably the white family killing is reported as domestic violence or mental health issues while the South Asian killing is reported as a 'honour killing". There are many Sikh/ Muslim/ Hindu/Christian etc South Asian families who might be unhappy with their childrens actions. Almost all of them do not turn violent. The ones who do obviously have other issues and use religion/family shame as an excuse. When these violent incidences become associated with culture (our culture as all "South Asians" then get clubbed together) all of us stand to suffer as all our actions are always judged in the light of these bad apples..
