Hi ,
I just returned to India from Canada after finising my formalities and now my PR card has been mailed to my relative in toronto. I came back to India and got married. Now can I apply for my wife from Delhi. Can someone send me any starting point or website.
Any idea on how long it will take if I apply from Delhi and how long if I apply from Buffalo in US.
Thanks
Sri

Can you tell me the time-frame for my wife to get it if i apply from Delhi. Can i apply from canada? (I recently got a job i ncanada)
I applied fr my spouse' sponsorship frm within Canada in Oct end '03. In end-Nov my case was declared eligible to sponsor.
In 1st week March '04 she was given a waiver & they asked her to send her passport fr stamping .Now she's ready to join me here !!!!
PS. It doesn't take more than 6 months fr the entire process, provided all papers are ready .
Thanks for the reply.
6 months is pretty good. I want to know if your situation is similar to mine.
I became a landed immigrtion on Feb8, 04. Came back to india a week later. My maple leaf card is now with my relatives in toronto. I got married on March 3. I now am in India, my wife is also in india and an indian citizen.
Now I got a job in Montreal, and have a final round of interview for another company in toronto. So I plan to go to canada within 2 months for one of these positions.
The questions I have are.... Should I apply for my wife from within canada ( to missisauga procesing cere), once I get there .... or should I apply from delhi? I am quite nbot sure how to proceed.
Thanks
These days its taking even less than 6 mos., I believe if all your stuff is in order, it takes about 3 mos. I've heard of 3 such cases recently, one guys' application got processed in 6 weeks. 2 of them have been married for a while (and have kids) and one guy's was a recent wedding. However each one of them has been in Canada for at least one year ( This is not a requirement, however it may help in make the processing faster if you've been here for a while)
Now, the main objective of the visa officer processing the application is to establish that the marriage isn't a fraudulent one. So I'm sure they must be looking at factors like whether the sponsor is employed, how educated he/she is, how educated the spouse/principal applicant is etc etc. even though these are not mandatory requirements for spouse sponsorship. And although these may not affect the final outcome of your application, I'm pretty sure they affect the speed with which your application is processed.
So I think its best if you apply from here after you get a job, if you're certain to get one after you land.
Here are some other things you can do to make the processing faster
1) Provide photographs of your wedding showing the key ceremonies (unless you were wedded in court)
2) Preserve your travel stubs to India and attach copies along with your application.
3) If you went on a honeymoon, attach some photos as well alongwith hotel receipts.
4) Any other details/attachments that you can think of that will prove to the immigration officer that your marraige is legit and proper.
Good luck.

Are you there?
Hi SK_P,
Sorry, I guess our situation similarity ends here !
I live n wrk in Toronto. My wife is from Europe, but I applied for her from Canada thinkingI would be better suited to answer any qs in d 1st part (sposorship eligibility) frm here. After a month,I was found to be eligible, the case was transferred to Europe and dint take very long after that.
I don't think I'll be in a position to advise you as from where you should apply - Delhi or Mis'ga.
From my lil understanding of d process: Spousal cases are high priority in any center, so they take precedence over other cases. But again, depending on d no of similar cases in dat center u'll be on d line.
Good luck!
