Recently i have been getting a lot of SPAM emails from different places across the globe telling me that i have won million of dollars or somebody needs my help to share their money. The list includes

1) Australian Award

2) South Africa 2010 lottery Award

3) Shell Global lottery Awards

and some of the other organizations that are asking for a business partner to share their amass wealth.

I know they are all scammers, they just want to know our personal information (Bank A/C, Credit Card, SSN, Home Address etc).

Can we report to police or any other agencies who can track them and charge them for their fraudlent activities?

Talked to one of my friend, he said most of these emails originate from Nigeria, as there is no law and order there so they try to befool people.

Just for the information of fellow desis, if any of you get these emails please do not respond with any information to them.

Thanks

You can turn on the full headers in your email. If you do not know how to, then search the help of the email program or email site you are using. Copy and paste the entire email in spamcop.net. It will send an abuse report to the ISP which was used to send that scam mail. http://www.spamcop.net/anonsignup.shtml

If they use free email address providers like Yahoo, you can complain to Yahoo. You have to search for abuse address at the email provider (usually or use this site to find it http://www.joewein.de/sw/419-freemail-abuse.htm

Though it looks unbelievable, but some people are falling for it and they send thousands of dollars believing such emails.

That's true. Here's a Youtube video on one such American women who had lost $400,000 to this fraud
