I haven't tried it at Ahmedabad. Normally near Airport exit they have a Prepaid taxi Ticket window. You pay and collect a paper from them. They will give you a taxi number, you go in taxi parking search your taxi.
Beware, sometime other drivers may call you or help searching taxi and may ask for some tip later
