We already have our auto insurance from the state farm , now our closing of new home is in jan.,2009 and we need home insurance as well, we are the first time home buyers.
Can anybody suggest which company has the best rates for home and Auto insurance, we can go to State farm but not to our present Agent as his customer service sucks.

I would suggest you do get a quote from TD Meloche Monnex 'http://www.melochemonnex.com/en/home\' too while you are shopping around.

I don't think you'll even get a quote from Meloche Monnex unless you are a group member because TDMM is a group insurer.
I would say call Certas Direct (for Home insurance) at 1-800-814-0008, get a quote over the phone and if you bind the policy, they send the binder directly to your lawyer. They are open M-F 8 to 8 and Sat 8 to 4. I have always referred this company to my clients. Their rates are pretty good.

Call up several companies - RBC, Belair and Meloche Monnex. You can call State Farm also but they do the business thru brokers. Call each of them as they will need a detailed info about your home and then you can make your decision. You may like to go on their web site too to get an idea and may be some discounts too.

There is nothing better or worse in it. It is a deductible. More the deductible, less will be the premium. You will have to make a decision as per your risk taking capability.
