Dear Brothers/ Sisters,
Please, I urgently need your advise on my following query:-
Me ( as a principal immigrant) and my family immigrated to canada in 2005. My family is here while I had been coming in and going out of canada till now. We complete our 5 years of Permanent Residency in April' 2010. I have stayed in Canada for only 120 days till now. I want to know how would I be allowed to work and live in canada after april 2010 if I am not able to complete my 730 days in Canada till then ( expiry of my PR validity). Please advise.
Freddi: You have been advising so many people on the immigration questions, Please advise me as well asap
regards,
Akhil

Just as an FYI, I know of a few people who got their PRs in 2003 and were out of the country and did not complete their residency requirements but before their PR card expired came back and are now staying the requisite amount of time here to complete the time requirement and then apply for their renewal
In the meantime, their spouses have had their PR card renewed and in some instances have got the citizenship as well
Also people who worked outside Canada after landing here ensured that they came back here to work quite before the expiry date and even if PR was expired they kept on living and working here and when residency was accomplished, renewed their card.
If your spouse has been here, your spouse should apply for canadian citizenship if requirements have been met.
Once your spouse is Canadian, then there are several ways w/in the framework of law to get yourself a Canadian citizenship as well.

Fido.
Hi Mr Freddi,
Thanks for the frank and fare response.
Well, it has happened now. We need to try the best forward.
Yes, I have all the intention to be a canadian. Am just wondering .... would it be easy for me to get my PR renewed OR I just go back and apply again once my wife gets the citizenship and then I come. Till then I can visit them on visitor's visa
?

Dear Fido,
No, i was not asked much while entering
Further, I am here now for the good
I may be able to complete 2 years before the time for my PR card lapses.... considering the time I have spent here in the past................... my dilemma is what would happen in case i travel out again.
You answered it very well. Thanks.
The law is clear and supports those who are clear in their plan.
We must respect the law and the rules
Tell me here please, does one need to declare where was one livivng and what was one doing when the person was not in canada?
reg,
Akhil
