I am a software engineer in India. I was not selected from H1B lottery system for USA work permit (H1b). So, I am looking for ways to enter canada as a software engineer.

Can you please explain me the process for CANADA work permit. You can also suggest me any desi consulting company that process the work permit for canada.

I am also looking for approximate cost for processing the work permit.

I applied for immigration in August 2004 and got the AOR in Sep, 04. Till date I have not received any furthere information from Canadian Embassy. Though my consultant is telling me that It would be done in another 10 months. She says that in another 6-10 months, I would have been landed in canada and she also suggested me to start searching job in Canada.

I do not understand that if I post my resume on various canadian job sites, how actually will it help (as on date, I am not authorized to work in canada). Is it possible that I can apply for the work permit also. If so, what is the process and the approximate time to get the work permit.
