They can work...but you can't make him take anger management therapy unless he is willing to commit to it himself...and like Jake said if it's been 14 years of this, it's unlikely he is willing to change now. In the meantime I would suggest you find a support group of some kind of people who have gone through the same/similar thing as you. Good luck.

Some one who raises his hand against you may deserve help but dont put your life on the hold to help him out.

You need to focus on yourself and strengthening your situation. Get a job, if you are not able to live independently get to a shelter for women of domestic violence they will help you get a job. If during the time you secure yourself he has not pulled up his socks i.e. gone for help/anger management etc. You may want to decide if you still want to remain married. It is a very serious situation. But you need to Secure yourself at all costs without further delay.

tht means he is not as bad as you think. yes it was difficult to be with him but it was TOO difficult to be away from him. Psychology (even commonsense) says people who express their anger instantly are very honest and people who smiles at u r silliness are crooks. just write down the 10 biggest mistakes he did to u and the 10 greatest things he did to u and just think……………………yes u r at the defensive position rite?????

Unless you have been in the same exact situtation as the OP I don't think you have any basis for this comment. People stay in these types of relationships for a number of reasons. They do not ask to be treated this way and just because they are still there with them doesn't mean the abuse is "not so bad". ANY type of abuse is something you shouldn't have to put up with in any amount.

You cannot base staying with someone on 10 good versus 10 bad points...relationships are more complicated than that.

Have you tried bringing the families in. Sometimes when members of family mediate, it becomes easier to put your points through to other person if he/she is not listening to you and that too without taking the matter outside.
