Hi,
I would be getting married in the month of August '04. My fiancee has immigrated to Canada last year and he is working there on a good designation.
He will be coming back in August for marriage by Court.
How much time would it take to process my papers, if he would apply from Delhi while in India only, as we are planning that he will take me along with him after marriage.
This would help him in applying for long leaves.
Please reply soon..
Thanks,
Nonu
I take it you meant August 2003 [unless you can see the future
]
Your application should not take more than 6 (six) months. Approx. 3-4 months.
Your spouse may submit the application while he is in India but he has to be very careful. The application may be refused if the officer determines that your husband 'is not residing in Canada' at the time of submitting the application.
I have several cases on appeal at the moment and it can delay things for both of you.
Best option: he returns to Canada and sponsors you.

Hi,
This is my first ever post on this wonderful resource. I'll be traveling to Canada soon on a study permit to attend Canada's premier Business School. My wife would be accompanying me on a dependent visa. I have heard that my wife would be eligible for a work permit once she lands in Canada without a job offer from a Canadian firm. Please confirm this.
Also help me know the way to get a work permit for my wife? How much time does it take after we arrive in Canada?
Also, please throw some pointers on how she can go about searching for a suitable IT job after getting the work permit. She has had an illustrious career with IBM and then with Accenture. In all she would have ~3 years of experience.
My next step would be to apply for PR. If my wife arranges for a job, wont she be more eligible for the PR? Is it true that those with arranged employment have a shorter PR procesing times (4-8 months)? In that case, shouldnt my wife be the primary applicant?
Sorry for asking too much.

Sorry , I can't stop..But need to say . u r dreaming too much..
In IT Better explore Indian connection. As lot many Indian companies (wipro, infosys etc) are setting up base in canada (to tap north america market) .& still avoid the US black lash..
Best of luck..
