Hello Everyone,

Anyone has any idea, how much money can a visitor carry to canada ??

Which would be the better option, Travellers cheque or cash...

How much money we should claim at customs when they arrive in canada..

Please advise

Thanks

If you have over $10,000 with you, then you have to declare that at the Canadian Customs . Check http://cbsa.gc.ca/publications/pub/bsf5052-eng.html

The best option would be Travellers cheque as they are secure, also if you are travelling from India, then you have a restriciton of $ 2000 for cash per person. Also make sure that you get travellers cheques in $100 + denominations as some bank dont give you a good rate for lesser value TC's. Amercian Express TC's would be the best (Some banks charge a fee for other TC's)

SBI has a kind of debit card (master card). this you can fill up in India and you can use it anywhere in the world. It is USD and you can withdraw (from any ATM) upto a maximum of $1000 at a time for a charge of $2.00. Look this up also , it is a good option.

And you cannot claim money from customs when you arrive in Canada ..... it is your problem you have come to Canada :D
