Hello All!!!
Can you tell me how is student permit different from visa...(this may sound stupid but I am ignorant..will be coming to Canada on 24th of this month)...
Now assuming my visa expires after 2 years and I wish to study further..so I apply for visa or study permit?

A permit is a legal document that allows you to stay and do what you were allowed to do in the country.
A visa is a document in your passport that allows you to enter the country. The visa is issued based on the holding of the permit.
If the visa expires, but not the permit, you can continue to stay in the country and be a student. However, you may not be able to re-enter the country without a valid visa.
To answer your questions, if your visa expires after 2 years, as long as you have the permit valid and as long as you do not intend to leave and re-enter the country, you may not have to apply for a new visa although you could.
