Addition to Gujarat's input to Bollywood
Paresh Rawal, Swaroop Sampat, Manhar & Pankaj Udhaas, Neeraj Vora, Dina, Supriya & Ratna Pathak, Tina Munim (Just to name a few)
In addition to Sridevis and Jaya Pradas that Tollywood had inflicted upon Bollywood, it also gave us the gift of the art of 1000 dancers circling around the Hero-Heroine doing aerobics on the garish sets, before Farah Khan came onto choreography scene and made the things straight.
I would request the moderators to lock the thread before it turns into an ugly Hindi-Tamil debate

Meghal... You are forgetting, the tune for those 1000's of dancers was set by a certain BONG by the name of Bappi Lahiri (Tofha Tofha Tofha..Laya Laya Laya ...
)and was picturized also on a Punjabi..by the name of Ravi Kapoor (otherwise known as Jeetendra
).. Damn, all those saree's 
I guess Meghal forgot a rather important Gujju..a world famous Gujju..by the name of Naseeruddin Shah !
Come on Meghal.. this is a nice time to showcase achievements from every state... why should the Mods block this thread...
South has always given us a steady stream of Heorines....
Bengal has given us a steady stream of Music directors and singers...
Gujrat has been a mixed bag....I think the most notable was the K-A combo, and for a brief moment, Viju Shah..but after that..its been a dearth of music directors and singers...
There was a hue and cry for the injustice meted out to Yesudas in the 1970's ..However, SP Balasubramaniam did quite well in Bollywood...However, now-a-days you have a deluge of singers from SOuth India...with impecable Hindi.
Mahalakshmi Iyer (Des Rangila from Fanaa), SHankar Mahadevan (from the SHankar-Ehsah-Loy brigade), Hariharan, Gayatri Iyer... damn, gone are the days of Mehmood-bashing Tamilians ..Its not the other way around..You even have an Adnan-Sami coming and singing in Tamil, or a Udit Narayan/Sukhvinder Singing in Telugu !
