Nagpur, Dec 15 (IANS) Virat Kohli and India captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni defied England to reach 227 for four at tea on day three of the fourth and final cricket Test at the VCA Stadium in Jamtha near here Saturday, trailing the hosts by another 103 runs. Kohli (77) and Dhoni (75) made 81 runs in 27 overs in the afternoon period of play as England went wicketless for the second consecutive session. The duo, who took the total to 146 by lunch, showed a lot more urgency in the afternoon. They exuded confidence in their 146-run partnership and were not afraid to play their strokes on a slow and low surface. Kohli, who is in the middle of his longest Test innings, got back amongst the runs when it mattered most and enthralled the crowd with some delightful shots on the off-side. Dhoni too changed gear and the best evidence of that came when he hammered Graeme Swann over long-on for for the first maximum of the innings. In the morning, Monty Panesar, the hero for England with the ball in the previous two Tests, was frustrated by Kohli and Dhoni. India started the day at 86 for four.
