Now, enjoy Angry Birds sweets








Helsinki, Oct 19 (IANS) After the phenomenal success of Angry Birds, a video game in which players use a slingshot to hurl birds at pigs on or inside various structures, here come Angry Birds sweets from a Finnish firm whose sales have hit an all-time record.

Finnish confectionery and catering company Fazer has hit an all-time sales record with its Angry Birds sweets, said Good News from Finland, the online service of Finnfacts.

According to company, it has sold five million bags of Angry Birds sweets globally since the product was launched in June. The company hasn't disclosed information on how much the sales are contributing to its bottom line.

Other Finnish companies are also taking advantage of the Angry Birds brand.

On Wednesday, the Finnish coffee company Paulig revealed that it is launching an Angry Bird coffee in October. The drinks manufacturer Olvi and cosmetics company Lumene have already launched their equivalent products.

"The expansion of international sales is going on well in several European countries and Asia through international airports. At the moment, we are negotiating about starting confectionery sales, for example, in Britain, Japan, China and Germany," says Pekka Rantala, managing director of Fazer Bakeries & Confectionery business area.

Paulig which is launching an Angry Birds Early Bird coffee in October believes in the product's potential.
