Bhopal, April 5 (IANS) The Indian Council of Cultural Relations (ICCR) started working officially from its brand new regional centre in Bhopal Thursday. Madhya Pradesh Culture and Public Relations Minister Laxmikant Sharma inaugurated the regional office of ICCR on the premises of the Ustad Alauddin Khan Sangeet Evam Kala Akademi here. Director General of ICCR Dr. Suresh Kumar Goel and Director General of Academy of Administration Abha Asthana were also present on the occasion. The Bhopal centre is the 17th regional centre of ICCR in India. Speaking on the occasion, Sharma said the establishment of the regional office of ICCR was a major achievement for Madhya Pradesh's world of arts. 'There are diverse cultures and excellent artists in Madhya Pradesh. The artists of Madhya Pradesh have not received national and international recognition for what they actually deserve,' he said. He hoped that the regional office of the ICCR would become a medium for promoting artists of Madhya Pradesh at the national and international level. A painting gallery was also inaugurated in the premises.
