Asuncion (Paraguay), Jan 21 (IANS) Speaker Meira Kumar, who is leading an Indian parliamentary delegation to Paraguay, has offered to help the Paraguayan parliament start a TV channel on the lines of the Lok Sabha Television. She charmed everyone by speaking in Spanish, the country's official language. 'During the visit, Meira Kumar interacted with the dignitaries and others in Spanish language which generated a lot of warmth and bonhomie during the visit,' a statement from the Indian embassy said here. Emphasizing the need for greater interaction and regular exchange of delegations at parliamentary level, the Lok Sabha speaker said that the two parliaments needed to share their experiences more often. 'On being informed about the proposal of the parliament of Paraguay to start its own TV channel, Meira Kumar referred to Indian parliament's successful launching and satisfactory operation of the Lok Sabha Television and assured that parliament of India would be pleased to share its experiences with the parliament of Paraguay,' the statement said. Meira Kumar called on Paraguayan President Fernando Lugo and the sides expressed satisfaction at the healthy state of bilateral ties and underlined the need for adding greater substance to the 'promising partnership'. The speaker congratulated the leadership of Paraguay on its 'spectacular economic growth' despite global economic meltdown in the recent years. Referring to the resilience of Indian economy, she stressed the need to strengthen cooperation between India and Paraguay in key areas of mutual interest, including infrastructure and education. The visiting delegation also called on Vice President Federico Franco. Besides, they held meetings with other leaders and parliamentarians of Paraguay. Meira Kumar extended an invitation to the Paraguayan president to visit India, which was accepted.
