Brasilia, Feb 12 (IANS/EFE) The death Monday of a young man who had been hospitalized with respiratory problems after being injured in the Jan 27 fire in a discotheque in the southern Brazilian city of Santa Maria raised to 239 the toll in the tragedy, authorities said. The young man, whose identity was not revealed at the request of his relatives, died at Hospital Cristo Redentor in Porto Alegre. The blaze broke out when a flare was lit during a concert being attended by some 800 people at the Kiss discotheque. Authorities are also investigating as possible aggravating factors the lack of extinguishers and the absence of legally required emergency exits at the nightclub. Another 49 people - most of them with respiratory problems - remain hospitalized, health officials said. Police have arrested the two owners of the disco and two members of the Gurizada Fandangueira band, which was performing when the fire broke out. --IANS/EFE rd
