Napoli beat Catania to move level on points with Juventus

Rome, Feb 3 (IANS) Napoli beat Catania 2-0 to move level on points with Serie A leaders Juventus.

Midfielder Marek Hamsik took centre-stage in the win as he grabbed a 31st-minute opener, turning in Camilo Zuniga's wayward shot and then set up with a low cross for Paolo Cannavaro to tap in just before half-time Saturday, reports Xinhua.

Catania vastly improved their performance after the break and had a Gonzalo Bergessio header ruled out for a foul but the hosts held on to draw level with Juventus ahead of the champions' trip to Chievo Sunday.

Napoli head coach Walter Mazzarri warned his side not to be distracted by their rise to the top.

"I cannot change my attitude by looking at the table. Our results come from battles like the one we had today and we must not get distracted. We need to remember every game is a battle. We did well not to panic during some moments under pressure today, though we still need to mature in those terms," he said.

In an earlier kick-off, Torino drew 0-0 with Sampdoria at home to stretch their unbeaten run to seven matches.
