Just out of interest. How many people went to HRDC after landing for help finding jobs. I think that they are great when it comes to books and computers for reference. Did anyone find their workshops/ counseling etc. helpful.

we have a choice between a workshop and a job fair. Its a tough choice. any ideas?

Go for Workshop.

Job fair is just collecting resumes personally. Nothing more.

I have attended 4 to 5 job fairs and its really wasting time.

HRDC is funded by Government fund and they periodically arrange these type of job fairs to shown their activities for requesting more fund from Government.

There are many HRDC Centres but all are not good one, so take care about selecting HRDC Centre.

well. we ended up going for the career fair becuase we postponed the hrd-c workshop to another day. well i would just like to say that the career fair was a real waste of time as there were tons of educational institutions out there and self employment (Amway) type outfits set up in a cramped setting. I certainly expected a bit more out of it. It was a waste of money and time.

i dont understand why the organizers want make a profit of unemployed peoples aspirations. if i am unemployed where am i going to get the money to pay for education and risk self-employment. It is really misleading for aspirants.

well i supoose it doesnt apply to all career fairs, but i just want to warn people going for such things that the list of employers must be impressively long for you to bother to pay the fee and make the trip.
