I am in US right now and will be moving shortly to Toronto.
Based on location of my workplace,I am thinking of leasing an apartment in one of the METCAP buildings around Don Mills.
Since its will be my first time lease in Canada, I wanted to know
1) the list of documents which are required to sign a lease.
2) Since I don't have credit history in Canada, if i carry my UScredit report will that be considered?
3) I believe some deposit might be required/first months rent, etc. Are travellers cheque accepted as a form of payment?

1. Copy of your PR/SIN
2. Bank statement showing that you have enough fund to pay rent for one year or employment letter.
3. Cheque for first and last month rent.

Anyhow in Metcap you have to visit their office at 80 Forest Manor Rd and they will lease you from the first of next month only. They will tell you what are the requirements to make the lease in case there are any changes recently.

You must need to have legal documents that required for apartment leasing, real estate agents will help you to do all this stuff.
