Hi,
I am IT professional, residing in India, with 9 years exp. I am interested in PR of Canada. I found very useful topics under the "ask immigration expert" thread.
However, I need you help towards achieving the objective:
1. Should I take services of consultants for processing my application or apply directly.
2. Is there eHow/wiki which covers all the steps involved in PR process.
3. As IT professional are not included the new list of preffered occupations, what is the best way for getting PR.
4. I would appear for IELTS this month. Which IELTS score is required.

As I go thru the process I would create eHow so that others may benefit from it.
Thanks

You must have some basic qualification to consider yourself as an IT Professional. Use it to your advantage. Build upon it.

1) The choice has been always there, but I find it redundant as we are all there to help you with it and also put you two steps ahead of them at each and every step. It might delay your process by a week or more. But you have the control of the situation under you at all times.

2) Yes look at wiki and study it for a week or read through these threads at leisure and grasp the intricacies of the process, prior to filling out the application. Use the check list as the basis of filling in the application and double check it prior to your moving it out of the way after filling.

3) You MUST Have a Degree in some thing or the other and a few years of education to port. Use it to your advantage. In my last response I gave an example to one of the posters, every one did a little cooking in their lives some time or other, take up cooking as a career for an year and since their profession is in demand, put on a white apron and learn to cook, and after you obtain a diploma and an year's experience, hop in on the Immigration Wagon and enter. After you work at it for an year or two here, branch off to a line that you are familiar with.

4) They call for the IELTS general. But if you are confident in obtaining the one that is called for the educational group, go for it. But make a very high grade in marks to get an entry. : http://www.cic.gc.ca/english//immigrate/cec/language-testing.asp

Hi Freddie,
Thanks for the reply.
After going through the post here i agree with you to dircetly apply of PR instead of hiring expert services. However I have few questions:
1.Under which category of skilled occupation list I can qualify for PR.
I have done B.Sc. (math, physics, chemsitry) from Delhi university and MCA (1999batch, 3 year regular course) from Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. And I am currently working for Wipro as principal engineer(technical lead/architect).
2. Would it(getting PR) be easier to first get a job there?
3. Any link to good consultacies(consultants) for IT job seekers?

Warm regards
Arvind
