I am very big fan of IIT's and have great respect of kids who have attended IIT. The reason being, I wrote the IIT JEE exam myself and could not get through. Instead ended up in one of the REC's.

Only the most intelligent's kids can Pass the exams.

And when parents say "I immigrated to Canada" for kids education.. It is Crap...Indian education is the best.

U dont need to be defensive. Kids born to desis in Canada are under lot of pressure to become doctors or lawyers. Aren't these kids drones? Seriously.

It is a natural process. You have to be under pressure to attain something in life. I don't think u can succeed without that. Take any field and u will realize that working hard is the only way to succeed. There is no shortcut in this competitive world.

Now the Canadian schools are off from First week of July for two months. There will be no home work given. I don't know what are the basis when we say Canadian education is the best. As far as I know schooling is totally crap here in Canada.

I can't say whether or not Cdn. education is good, as I do not have kids right now. However, to your point that Cdn. kids don't get home work, while in India we do. Do you remember back in India we (as I saw most of us) had fun throughout the summer vacations and then finish off the home work when only a week was left for the vacation? It was mostly done copying each other's work, or using the 'Study Guides/ keys' etc. It would be interesting to know your thoughts on this.

Besides, I have seen numerous examples of Canadian educated kids who are Docs, Engineers, Scientists, CEOs etc. just at par with any IITian as far as position is concerned. Just a two days ago one of my acquintances' daughter here in BC secured a scholorship worth $50,000 with one of the top Canadian universities. So much for the Cdn. education, eh?

Indian education, as I think is mostly a 'Ratta lagao', while Canadian one insists on life skills more. The former does not include IITs, IIMs which anyway is out of reach for majority of population within India itself. Now, how you perceive it is all upto you and I do respect your thoughts.
