they do their verifications on file when application is sent....like they sent me letter as they wanted more documents proving my entries ?& then after they find all satisfactory, then only you get test letter...but they want to see original stamps in passport at test centre as ones you send them with apllication is photocopies of passport pages.

I really doubt that you would get into that kind of interrogation. So many people work in states & come back just to give test.

Again just call cic call centre for peace of mind.

Please note that I did not send photocopies of all my passport pages. Just the page/pages which had my details enough to serve as Photo ID because that is what is the requirement in the document checklist for citizenship application.
I hope that is ok. Or do I have to send across all the pages and proof of my arrival in Canada?

My case is as follows:
I came to Canada in August 2005 as landed immigrant. And then I left to India by end of month in August, after getting myself a job in B.C. The reason is that my employment letter was dated 16th January 2006 and also because I had to prepare my family and myself for permanent relocation since I had a job at hand. I have mentioned this as the reason for absence in my online residence calculation. I returned to Canada on Jan 12, 2006. I have my airplane ticket and hydro bill as proof of returning on Jan 12 2006.
Also, note that I have factored this absence before applying for citizenship and I fulfill the 1095 days criterion on Jan 12 2009. I applied on Jan 19 2009 so I think it is fine here. After Jan 12, 2006 I never left Canada (even to go to the US etc. and I have been continuously employed in Canada right through).
The only question is whether I should have attached proof of returning to Canada on 12th Jan 2006 with my citizenship application (although there is no requirement mentioned in the citizenship package) ? Or additionally, should I have attached photocopies of my passport pages indicating stamps of entry and exit (even this is not mandated under citizenship package instructions)?
