I am in the process of collecting all the papers required for applying for PR to Canada in the Skilled Worker category. I am in the US on an H-1B visa and am going to apply at the Canadian Consulate General in Buffalo, NY.
1. Do I need to send my fingerprint clearance along wiht my application? I am confused as the instruction manual says not to apply for a police certificate from the United States government till asked to. But some people have told me that I need to send the fingerprints along with my application. Can someone please clarify.
2. Also, the first 3 years of my H-1B visa expire on 2nd March 2005. I do not think that I will be able to submit my Canadian Immigration papers till April at the earliest. Will this cause my application to be returned since I do not have 1 year remaining for my stay in the US?
Thanks.

Hi,
1. You can submit the application without FBI clearance. The initial assessment is done in a year and your FBI results are valid for only 6 months. Even if you submit it now, they will ask you to submit it again. You can save time in applying now without it.
2. You should have been legally admitted inside US for one year to apply from Buffalo. It has nothing to do with your remaining one year of visa.
So it won't be returned.
Hope this helps.
