I don't remember China Town being discussed on the forum but off late we visited China Town at Spadina Dundas which brought back the charm and memories of shopping in a bazaar like environment with rows of shops either sides selling all kind of wares largely gifts / food items / clothes besides grocery (fruits and vegetables ) at unimiginable low prices ......... brought back the feeling of being in Asia once more . Not less than 10 times the size of Gerrard street and with hordes of people around , for an instant you d forget that you are in Canada ....... negotiate haggle and buy things at very low prices ....
We have visited it twice and intend going there when we are filled up with the mall shopping experience ....... adjoining it is Kensington Place market which is again a myriad of colors .... reminding one pf any popular bazaar of India or souqs of middle east ....... I highly recommend this place both for shopping as well as for the experience .No wonder it reckons as a major attration of Toronto . As a bonus you have the factorydirect store at College st near Kenington where you can always check great deals at .
An interesting writeup in the following link http://www.aviewoncities.com/toronto/chinatown.htm

Good bargains.
Has lost its charm for me.
Prefer the one in NYC off Canal Street.More daring. Lots of nakli brand names and hajaar times more variety.
But then NYC ain't NYC for nuthin'
