Hello members,
If a person is in Canada on a student visa with a co-op term in her/his program, can he/she go to USA and do the Co-Op term there if school agrees to do.
I mean it is legally possible to get USA visa to complete the co-op term there?
Anyone suggestions are welcomed. Thank you!!!
Good question , can someone on work permit in Canada , working
for a Canadian Employer goto USA for training . Would this be possible,
or even get paid in USA .

Sure, as long as you are able to obtain the appropriate US visa.

Legally possible to get a visa? What do you mean?
You can apply for the appropriate visa and then go to USA if that is possible. I do not know the category for which you would qualify though. Because CO-OP is not a business (and hence B1/B2 is ruled out????) and you are not going for work (and hence H1 - even if you qualify for H1, getting it is tough these days).
I am sorry, but i dont understand, H1B even if someone wouldnt
be paid in USD ????
I have a friend here, who was on work permit and got rejected
for a job at CISCO, as they found out he was not canadian and
they train some of their employees in US .
ANother friend raised a similar concern, he would be getting
an offer letter soon from a canadian company , which would
require him to goto US every now and then for training.
He is on work permit in Canada, now does a US visa suffice for
him or does he need a H1B.
Expert opinions please .

If you are going just for training (and not for working) is okay. It is not the currency in which you are getting paid, it is the place that you will be working. Working on a US soil requires a US work visa. But for a mere training, you will be okay.
You talked about getting paid in the US in your original post - that's why I wrote about the work visa.
