South Asian Heritage Month:
On December 14, 2001, the Government of Ontario proclaimed the month of May as South Asian Heritage Month presenting an opportunity for the people of Ontario to learn more about the contributions, rich culture and traditions South Asians bring to the province.

South Asian Heritage Month is a time to pay tribute to the accomplishments of people of South Asian descent and the members of the South Asian community who continue to contribute to the social, cultural, economic and political life of the province of Ontario.

Canadian Community Arts Initiative, a not-for profit corporation, proudly presents "MOSAIC", the first South Asian Heritage Festival in the City of Mississauga.

What is the artistic vision of the Canadian Community Arts Initiative?
Canadian Community Arts Initiative's artistic vision is to become an eminent member of the Canadian multi disciplinary artist community through its commitment to excellence and its strong belief in the value of arts in the Canadian community. Canada is blessed with an abundance of talent in all fields of arts. By providing more opportunities to Canadian artists, Canadian Community Arts Initiative will help answer the need for Canadian talent to contribute to the cultural life of Canada.

What is MOSAIC?
MOSAIC aims to be the largest South Asian outdoor multidisciplinary arts festival of the year for Mississauga, so come all to celebrate the rich South Asian heritage. This event includes:

 30 marketplace vendors' shall bring you exotic South Asian merchandise, clothes, jewelry, arts and crafts from Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri-Lanka and Indo Carribean;
 10 food vendors shall bring you the exquisite art of South Asian cooking;
 There will be public service and information booths including Peel Regional Police (including recruitment information), Region of Peel (Employment Services), Ontario Arts Council, Friends of South Asia ROM, Trillium Foundation, ASAAP, DIL, Omni TV and more at this festival;
 Main stage will be exhibiting 40 performances show casing dancers, musicians, singers and other culturally unique artists;
 Youth bands from Mississauga, Brampton and other GTA cities will perform at the Amphitheatre Youth Stage;
 Performances by Kiran Ahluwalia, Lata Pada, Sohail Rana, Divya Kumar amongst many other talents will take place at Living Arts Centre;
 Into, Out of and Away, a multi media visual arts exhibition by South Asian artists will take place at Laidlaw Hall, Living Arts Centre.
 Mississauga Central Library will host the literary Seminar by prominent Canadian writers of South Asian origin.
 Sufficient FREE Parking available; entrance to the main event is $5.00 and children under 8 enter FREE.
