Even after living in Canada for number of years, some desis still maintain Indian Standard Time when dealing with ellow desis. They are always late. Sometimes they are late by more than an hour. I dont get it. Ottawa is not a big city like GTA. U can drive in 20 minutes from one end to other. Still coming to someone's place for a meeting/party/tea etc, they are late. Will they late like this to a meeting in the office? Nah. They are scared.

On the contrary, when they are invited to a gora/gori place (if at all they get invited), they are on time, may be even few minutes early. I wonder if it's their arrogant mentality with fellow desis.

Yes, I completely agree with you. I do not like to go late anywhere.And I do not like it when people come late for each and everything.

Yet another thing I have noticed with desis who have been here for some time. If they have anounced a party, a birthday party or example, it starts quite late in the evening, maybe not earlier than 8 or 9 pm.

Then when it finally does, you get to eat snacks, and heavy ones at that like samosa and pakora etc, at around 10 PM. With tea and all that takes about an hour or two finish.

By the time dinner is served, it is well past midnight.

Where has this system been picked up. AFAIK, Canadians are early eaters. Neither have I seen such a practice in India. So where have they learnt this new "ishtyle"? Is it as common as I think, or what I experienced was more of an exception?

so whats the big deal in being late in parties where there is no fruitful out- come.NRI s are nowehere they try to be indian and and canadian and they land up in between... be ur self..thats the best bet
